Senior Quality Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Serbia.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the quality strategy within your squad, establishing a testing approach based on product risk, system complexity, and delivery objectives.

• Promote quality early in the process by collaborating closely with Product and Engineering during scoping and refinement to guarantee that requirements are both testable and clearly defined.

• Empower teams to take responsibility for testing by advising engineers on the design and implementation of automated tests at various layers, ensuring integration of testing into development workflows.

• Influence the implementation of automation by defining testing patterns, boundaries, and contracts, ensuring that the automation is well-structured and maintainable.

• Engage actively where necessary through exploratory testing in complex or high-risk areas, effectively addressing critical gaps in a pragmatic manner.

• Maximize the effective use of tools and platform capabilities by promoting the adoption of shared frameworks, CI/CD practices, and quality standards.

• Deliver clear insights into quality by highlighting risks, trade-offs, and coverage gaps to aid informed decision-making.

• Extend your contributions beyond your team by sharing best practices and assisting in enhancing overall quality maturity across teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in Quality Engineering or QA within cross-functional teams.

• Experience with complex systems (e.g., APIs, distributed systems, or multi-layer applications).

• Strong comprehension of testing across various levels (unit, integration, end-to-end).

• Practical expertise in test automation and its integration into modern development workflows.

• Experience in environments where teams are accountable for testing and quality.

• Ability to guide teams in structuring test coverage and making pragmatic quality choices.

• Experience in CI/CD and continuous delivery settings.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence engineers and product stakeholders.

• Sound judgment in balancing quality, speed, and risk.

• Nice to have: Experience in building or maintaining automated test suites; Familiarity with modern testing frameworks and tools (e.g., Playwright, Cypress, REST-assured, Postman); Experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines; Exposure to test data management, mocking, or service virtualization; Working knowledge of a programming or scripting language (e.g., JavaScript, TypeScript, Python); Experience in cloud-based or distributed environments.
