This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.
• Act as the main QA liaison for your designated area of the platform, taking ownership of test coverage across a diverse and technically intricate surface area.
• Engage in sprint planning and ticket refinement to ensure forthcoming tasks are testable, well-defined, and adhere to quality standards prior to development commencement.
• Execute functional, regression, and exploratory testing for new features and bug fixes within assigned functional domains.
• Identify, document, and monitor bugs in Shortcut, providing clear reproduction steps and necessary context.
• Collaborate closely with developers to guarantee timely resolution of bugs and clear communication regarding issue severity and scope.
• Lead QA-driven root cause analysis (RCA) for bugs that make it to production by replicating issues, pinpointing testing deficiencies, and implementing process or test enhancements to avert recurrence.
• Test from the end user's viewpoint to uncover usability concerns and deliver insightful feedback to the product team aimed at enhancing the overall customer experience.
• Plan, develop, and sustain automated test coverage for your designated area in partnership with the QA Automation Architect.
• Identify high-value test cases for automation and prioritize coverage that alleviates manual regression efforts over time.
• Review and contribute to the shared automation framework, ensuring that your tests align with established patterns and best practices.
• Maintain current automated test scripts as features evolve, ensuring coverage remains accurate and dependable.
• Collaborate with the QA Automation Architect to broaden automated coverage and integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Provide insights on automation strategies, tools, and testing methodologies to continually enhance QA processes.
• Adapt flexibly across teams or testing initiatives as business needs evolve.
• Operate with a high degree of independence — navigate uncertainty, make informed decisions, and sustain progress without constant guidance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
• 5–7+ years of experience as a QA Engineer within an Agile setting.
• Proficiency in manual and automated testing of web applications, SaaS platforms, and third-party integrations.
• Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, tools, and processes.
• Proven ability to draft test plans, create test cases, and execute organized testing efforts with minimal supervision.
• Hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, or similar technologies.
• Familiarity with API testing tools (e.g., Postman) and knowledge of APIs, JSON, and XML formats.
• Experience with bug tracking and test management systems (e.g., Shortcut, Jira, TestRail).
• Excellent communication skills with an eagerness to express ideas, concerns, and constructive feedback to enhance product quality and team processes.
• Comfortable working in a dynamic startup environment with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
