Senior QA Automation Engineer, Playwright

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Qatar.

📋 Description

• Take full ownership of quality assurance processes, encompassing test strategy, test case formulation, and acceptance validation.

• Conduct manual and exploratory testing of new features in dynamic (greenfield) settings where early automation may not be feasible.

• Systematically design, develop, and manage automated test suites for established functionalities, including UI, API, integration, and end-to-end tests.

• Establish and uphold a regression testing methodology, beginning with manual smoke tests and advancing to automated regression coverage that prioritizes high-risk areas (authentication, number purchasing, porting, billing).

• Execute API and integration testing across various external systems, including carrier platforms, ServiceNow, billing APIs, and Cognito authentication workflows.

• Incorporate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to guarantee continuous quality assessment.

• Partner with Business Analysts to clarify and confirm acceptance criteria.

• Record, monitor, and manage defects until resolution.

• Assist in stabilization phases and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) cycles to ensure readiness for production.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in QA engineering, encompassing both manual and automated testing.

• Strong practical experience in UI test automation using Playwright.

• Proficient in API testing with tools like Postman and/or JavaScript/TypeScript-based frameworks.

• Robust background in manual and exploratory testing with effective test design skills.

• Solid understanding of microservices architectures and principles of integration testing.

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated test suites.

• Proficient in JavaScript / TypeScript for the development of test automation.

• English proficiency at an Upper-Intermediate (B2) level or above.

• Nice to have: Familiarity or hands-on experience with performance or load testing.

• Experience with contract testing tools such as Pact and/or event-driven testing (Kafka-based systems).

• Experience in testing authentication and SSO flows (e.g., AWS Cognito, OIDC).

• Exposure to telecom, CPaaS, or UCaaS sectors.

• Knowledge of security testing principles.

• Experience with test management tools such as Jira Xray or TestRail.
