Senior QA Automation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Guide engineers on quality best practices, including Test Driven Development (TDD) and test design.

• Establish testing methodologies for the team encompassing unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end testing.

• Develop production-ready automation frameworks, testing tools, and test scripts.

• Measure and monitor quality metrics such as coverage, flakiness, test durations, and defect rates.

• Leverage data to prioritize enhancements in quality.

• Utilize AI for generating tests, identifying coverage deficiencies, and expediting quality feedback loops.

• Engage in on-call duties and incident management.

• Diagnose production problems by analyzing logs, metrics, and observability tools.

• Examine services and infrastructure, identify or narrow down root causes, execute operational tasks, and escalate incidents as necessary.

• Assist engineers in identifying issues earlier through design consultation, testability coaching, and rapid feedback.

• Spearhead quality initiatives within the team and mentor engineers on effective testing practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3–5+ years of experience as a software engineer or in Quality Assurance (QA).

• Strong programming capabilities and the ability to write maintainable, production-quality code.

• Proficient in at least one modern programming language, such as Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or Dart.

• Capable of quickly adapting to other languages for QA tooling purposes.

• Practical experience in designing, building, and maintaining automated tests across web, API, and/or mobile platforms.

• Familiarity with tools such as Selenium, Cucumber, Appium, Rest Assured, Playwright, Maestro, Patrol, or similar technologies.

• In-depth knowledge of unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end testing methodologies.

• Proficient in Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), Jenkins pipelines, and GitHub Actions.

• Knowledgeable in Java/Spring, Angular/Flutter, AWS, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Datadog, Postman, Bruno, and JMeter.

• Understanding of on-call protocols, production troubleshooting, logs, metrics, observability tools, mitigation strategies, and incident escalation.

• Experience with AI tools for generating test cases, identifying edge cases, detecting flaky tests, analyzing coverage gaps, and prioritizing testing efforts.

• Background in coaching engineers and transforming team practices.

• Ability to produce clear documentation and runbooks.

• Fluent in Spanish.

• Working knowledge of English for effective cross-team collaboration.

• Nice to have: experience in fintech, payments, or high-reliability systems.

• Nice to have: experience in mobile, performance/load testing, contract/API testing, open-source contributions, or mobile device farms.
