Senior Python Engineer, DataFeed Team

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Cyprus.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain Python services focused on the ingestion, transformation, and distribution of sports data.

• Integrate with external sports data providers, managing discrepancies between their models, formats, and update mechanisms.

• Construct reliable pipelines for both near real-time and batch data processing.

• Enhance data validation, reconciliation, monitoring, alerting, and replay tools.

• Work on domain models concerning events, competitions, participants, markets, odds, scores, and other related sports entities.

• Investigate production issues, trace data anomalies, and enhance system observability.

• Collaborate with backend, product, trading, QA, and platform teams to ensure robust data flows.

• Contribute to architectural decisions, conduct code reviews, uphold technical standards, and provide mentorship within the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of substantial production experience with Python.

• Proven experience in designing and operating backend services in a production environment.

• Proficient in Django, with skills in asynchronous programming (asyncio).

• Production experience with Apache Kafka.

• Strong understanding of APIs, distributed systems, asynchronous processing, and data pipelines.

• Excellent SQL skills and experience with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL.

• Familiarity with integrating external APIs, feeds, or third-party data providers.

• Ability to critically assess data accuracy, edge cases, and potential failure scenarios.

• Experience with monitoring, logging, alerting, and troubleshooting production systems.

• A senior ownership mindset: capable of dissecting ambiguous problems, making practical technical decisions, and communicating effectively.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and comfort in conducting code reviews.

• Willingness to participate in on-call rotations.
