This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ukraine.
• Take ownership of and fulfill quarterly objectives for the team, guiding engineers through uncertainty to tackle complex, open-ended challenges and ensuring effective execution.
• Work in partnership with Product Management, Design, and Analytics throughout the entire product development lifecycle.
• Engage in ideation, outline technical limitations, and assist in assessing risks and trade-offs.
• Recognize project, process, technology, and business obstacles and drive the formulation of solutions.
• Enhance service reliability and availability by defining and tracking essential metrics.
• Involve yourself in incident management, operational excellence, and on-call responsibilities.
• Develop and advocate for best practices in software design, architecture, and code reviews.
• Guide and assist engineers through constructive feedback, sharing knowledge, and setting a positive example.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience in designing, developing, and delivering scalable backend systems utilizing Python, Kotlin, or similar programming languages.
• Proven experience in building and maintaining highly available distributed systems within cloud environments.
• Familiarity with AWS, MySQL, Spark, or comparable platforms.
• Proficient in defining and executing technical plans for significant features or system components.
• Emphasis on scalable, maintainable, and extensible design principles.
• Experience working within large codebases and implementing significant changes safely.
• Knowledge of engineering best practices, automation, testing, and deployment processes.
• An ownership mindset and a dedication to continuous learning, professional development, and proactive feedback.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate with distributed and global engineering teams.
• Nice to have: experience with high-scale customer-facing platforms.
• Nice to have: understanding of microservices architecture and event-driven systems.
• Nice to have: knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and contemporary DevOps practices.
• Nice to have: experience in mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction across teams.
