Senior Protection & Control Engineer – Power & Utilities

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead or assist in the comprehensive design of Protection & Control systems for both greenfield and brownfield substation projects.

• Create P&C design outputs, such as one-line and three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics and wiring layouts, panel configurations, bills of materials, cable schedules, control logic, and I/O mapping.

• Specify and implement protection relays, including those from SEL, GE, and ABB, along with their corresponding settings.

• Adhere to IEEE, NESC, and specific client utility standards.

• Collaborate with SCADA/RTU, communications, physical, and civil design teams.

• Conduct quality assurance and quality control on drawings while mentoring junior P&C designers and engineers.

• Engage with clients, relay settings engineers, and field teams during design evaluations and construction phases.

• Offer technical assistance for relay testing, FAT/SAT, and substation energization as necessary.

• Occasionally assist during commissioning and testing stages.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of professional experience in substation protection and control design for utilities, EPCs, or engineering firms.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

• Valid Electrical Professional Engineer (PE) license.

• Expertise in developing protection one-lines, AC/DC schematics, and panel wiring diagrams.

• Familiarity with protection relay applications, particularly SEL 351, 451, 735, and 487.

• Proficient in using AutoCAD, MicroStation, or comparable CAD software.

• Strong knowledge of control schemes, relay logic, and SCADA integration.

• Understanding of IEEE, NESC, and utility-specific regulations.

• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
