This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.
• Conduct thorough investigations, evaluations, negotiations, settlements, and resolutions for complex and moderately complex commercial property claims, including those under litigation.
• Analyze claim notifications, legal documents, contracts, and policies to confirm coverage details, deductibles, claim payees, mortgagees, and compensability.
• Execute field inspections and re-inspections of commercial properties.
• Communicate with insured parties and claimants to clarify the claims process and provide updates on claim status.
• Coordinate with experts, remediation specialists, temporary restoration services, business continuity efforts, evidence preservation, engineers, contractors, and for re-inspections.
• Gather statements and official reports; meticulously document claim activities, reserve analyses, and reports within the claims management system.
• Establish timely and appropriate reserves while analyzing business records to assess potential business-income losses.
• Examine bills, invoices, receipts, legal expenses, estimates, and repair methodologies for accuracy and relevance.
• Address coverage inquiries and disputes, assess loss causes, draft repair estimates, and negotiate settlements.
• Prepare documentation such as reservation-of-rights, denial, settlement, statement-of-loss, and proof-of-loss, subject to necessary approvals.
• Seek recovery and subrogation opportunities, identify potential fraud, and refer cases to the Special Investigations Unit (SIU).
• Recommend defense counsel and collaborate with attorneys throughout litigation processes.
• Organize and prepare cases for mediation, appraisals, arbitrations, and lawsuits.
• Submit referrals to internal specialty units and generate risk reports for Underwriting and Risk Improvement teams.
• Review policy intent, activity, account inspections, and property estimates.
• Engage in claims roundtables, manage catastrophic claims operations, oversee large projects, and provide technical support to less experienced adjusters.
• Bachelor's degree or an equivalent level of relevant experience.
• Minimum of five years in property claims adjusting or related fields.
• Relevant insurance designations are preferred.
• Comprehensive understanding of claims theory and practice.
• In-depth knowledge of insurance contracts, medical terminology, and both substantive and procedural laws.
• Proficient in computer skills and claims management systems.
• Capability to acquire all necessary state licenses.
• Strong organizational skills and empathetic interpersonal communication abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong investigative and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Occasional travel may be required.
• A valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle report as per company standards is mandatory if driving is involved.
