Property Claims Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Wisconsin.

📋 Description

• Initiate prompt communication with policyholders and claimants

• Perform thorough investigations into the causes and origins of significant property claims

• Interview insured individuals, claimants, and other pertinent parties

• Assess property damage and analyze information to prepare estimates

• Review and recommend claim coverage

• Assess liability and determine the total value of claims

• Negotiate settlement agreements

• Establish and maintain adequate reserves

• Independently evaluate property damage to ascertain the extent of loss

• Create estimates and reach an agreed scope of work and repair costs with contractors and/or policyholders

• Determine values based on applicable coverage

• Identify necessary steps to commence property-loss investigations

• Engage outside experts and legal counsel as needed

• Document claim files and submit final reports for resolution

• Assign and oversee independent adjusters when necessary

• Guide claims adjusters on the management of claims

• Conduct relevant training for field-office claims personnel and Home Office staff

• Participate in industry-related training programs and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations

• Build and sustain relationships with local, state, and regional organizations and agencies

• Coordinate the activities of the Catastrophe Team at disaster sites

• Maintain regular and predictable attendance

• Offer 24-hour availability for emergency claims services

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED with five years of claims handling experience, with up to two years of equivalent experience being acceptable

• Bachelor’s Degree with three years of claims handling experience, with up to two years of equivalent experience being acceptable

• Proficient knowledge of Windows software

• Must be a member of the Catastrophe Team and may need to travel on short notice to different locations for periods exceeding two consecutive weeks when necessary

• Must provide 24-hour availability for emergency claims services

• Successful completion of Introduction to Claims (AIC 30) and AIC 35 is preferred

• Appropriate licensing as mandated by state regulations

• Valid driver's license and a good driving record are required

• Capability to use required personal protective equipment

• Ability to lift over 50 lbs with the assistance of lifting aid equipment

• Capability to climb/access heights

• Frequent driving is required

• Ability to lift/move items weighing between 0–20 lbs and 20–50 lbs

• Proficiency in manual keying, data entry, computer utilization, and information input

• Ability to push, pull, and maneuver wheeled objects and equipment
