Short Term Disability Claims Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nebraska, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Conduct initial and ongoing interviews with claimants.

• Communicate with claimants, employers, and medical professionals via phone and email to collect Short Term Disability claim information.

• Obtain and review medical records.

• Collaborate with case managers, nurse case managers, and consulting physicians to ensure timely and appropriate claim determinations.

• Review complex medical records and utilize tools and resources to establish approval durations and future action plans.

• Perform accurate financial calculations in accordance with company and state guidelines.

• Deliver exceptional customer service while proactively identifying customer needs and potential areas for improvement.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.

• 1-2 years of experience in claims, leaves, or customer service.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Excellent organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Experience with disability and/or absence management is a plus.

• Strong mathematical abilities for payment calculations are preferred.
