Senior Project Manager, Data Center Fitting-Out

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Oversee the complete lifecycle management of data center fitting-out and PoP build projects throughout the Americas.

• Create project execution strategies encompassing scope, schedule, budget, risks, quality assurance/quality control, and logistics.

• Maintain comprehensive project documentation, reports, and dashboards for both regional and global leadership.

• Collaborate with global engineering teams on design packages, rack configurations, structured cabling, power distribution, and cooling specifications.

• Manage requests for information (RFIs), submittals, shop drawings, and site clarifications with contractors and vendors.

• Partner with Zenlayer’s global supply chain team to source long-lead equipment such as racks, PDUs, fiber panels, cabling, network hardware, and power components.

• Track vendor manufacturing timelines, factory acceptance test (FAT) schedules, and international logistics.

• Supervise contractors during construction, electrical/mechanical integration, and ICT installation.

• Ensure adherence to local regulations, Zenlayer specifications, and colocation provider guidelines.

• Lead the testing and commissioning processes for power systems, cooling integration, rack deployment, structured cabling, and network equipment readiness.

• Provide comprehensive handover packages including as-built drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, inventory lists, and test reports.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Telecommunications, or a related discipline.

• 5 to 10 years of project management experience in data center fitting-out/build-out, PoP builds, network infrastructure deployment, telecommunications, colocation, or mission-critical environments.

• Proven experience in delivering multiple concurrent projects across the Americas is highly preferred.

• Familiarity with MEP interfaces within data center settings.

• Strong knowledge of structured cabling, fiber systems, rack deployment, and power distribution.

• Understanding of commissioning, ICT integration, and reliability standards.

• Proficient in project management software tools (MS Project, Primavera, Jira, Asana).

• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, floor plans, and technical specifications.

• Excellent communication skills when working with distributed global teams.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity for cross-functional coordination.

• Capable of managing multiple sites and priorities at the same time.

• Comfortable operating in fast-paced, high-growth environments.

• Willingness to travel 30 to 50% within the Americas for site visits, inspections, logistics evaluations, and vendor meetings.
