This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.
• Oversee the design and development of the nuclear island/nuclear steam supply system (NSSS) for Small Modular Reactor projects within Nuclear plants.
• Lead a cross-functional, matrixed engineering and licensing team focused on major small modular reactor systems and subsystems.
• Make independent decisions and address significant inquiries related to the design and development of the small modular reactor.
• Collaborate with senior technical managers, the program manager, and various levels of management across the organization.
• Work with management to determine staffing requirements, identify deficiencies, and explore opportunities for recruitment of necessary personnel.
• Aid in the identification, assessment, recruitment, and onboarding of qualified candidates to fill critical positions.
• Initiate projects with substantial risk and complexity; formulate the corresponding strategy for execution.
• Address unique and intricate challenges that significantly affect the business; necessitates conceptual and innovative thinking to devise novel solutions.
• Influence the direction and resource distribution for projects, initiatives, or services; operate within the framework of general functional policies.
• Articulate complex concepts, foresee potential objections, and persuade stakeholders, often at senior levels, to consider alternative perspectives.
• Implement risk management strategies pertinent to the area of responsibility.
• Monitor key performance indicators, including earned value metrics.
• Ensure compliance with stringent nuclear quality assurance and safety standards.
• Conduct regular assessments of project status, risks, and performance in collaboration with the program manager and client.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an Engineering discipline.
• At least fifteen years of post-baccalaureate experience.
• Minimum of five years of experience in managing individuals or teams.
• Excellent communication skills in a complex, multi-tiered environment.
• Strong organizational abilities.
• Capacity to foster and achieve alignment on goals among participants with differing interests.
• Familiarity with essential design standards and licensing requirements for commercial nuclear facilities is essential.
• Professional registration or licensure in a nuclear-related field of practice is preferred.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is advantageous.
• Experience as a senior design professional or manager on commercial nuclear reactor projects is preferred.
• Background in Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) is desirable.
• Must be a U.S. citizen to be considered.
