📋 Description

• Create technical designs for reforestation initiatives, incorporating carbon modeling, specific ecological considerations, and disturbance history to enhance both forest establishment success and carbon sequestration results.

• Collaborate with the carbon science team to refine and implement MRV (monitoring, reporting, and verification) methodologies using remote sensing and field inventory techniques.

• Act as the primary field contact and technical leader for contractors, including planting crews, site preparation teams, and other natural resource staff and conservation partners.

• Perform site reconnaissance, GIS analysis, and due diligence evaluations to assess new project opportunities and guide implementation strategies.

• Supervise the execution of planting, forest monitoring, and post-establishment surveys, ensuring high data quality throughout the process.

• Travel regularly to project locations for due diligence, site preparation, planting seasons, and ongoing forest monitoring.

• Proven capability to manage contractors, juggle multiple projects, and achieve results within budget and timeline constraints.

• An advanced degree in forestry, forest ecology, natural resource management, or a related field is preferred.

• Knowledge of Appalachian and Southeastern US forest ecosystems, including native hardwood and conifer ecology, disturbance dynamics, and site-level silviculture.

• Experience with forest carbon accounting frameworks, FIA data, remote sensing-based quantification, or growth and yield modeling is highly desirable.

• A clear and confident communicator, able to convey scientific nuances to a wide range of audiences, from field personnel to investors.

• Experience with drone operation and data collection for forest monitoring or site assessment is an advantage.
