This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Deliver technical knowledge during the design and implementation stages of energy storage projects to assist our Independent Power Producer (IPP) clients.
• Utilize advanced engineering methods to design, develop, test, and assess multidisciplinary systems for smooth integration of energy storage products across various projects.
• Work closely with customer engineering, project, and product teams, managing energy storage product due diligence, retrofitting, integration, and commissioning from project interconnection to the Commercial Operation Date (COD).
• Direct the collaboration among vendors, clients, and subcontractors throughout the project interconnection, design, construction, and commissioning phases.
• Exhibit expertise in engineering evaluations, practical problem resolution, strategic planning, multi-party coordination, and enhancing engineering processes.
• Act as a principal technical authority in integrating energy storage products into project designs, ensuring adherence to ISO, NERC, NFPA, and other pertinent standards.
• Evaluate engineering deliverables from various disciplines and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) and submissions.
• Identify and mitigate project risks associated with design, certification, testing, systems integration, and commissioning.
• Collaborate with and maintain a thorough technical understanding of deliverables from battery/PCS/EMS vendors, ISOs, utilities, IPPs, EPCs, NRTLs, third-party QA/QC, and engineering consulting firms.
• Oversee and coordinate commissioning activities among various stakeholders for both utility-scale and distributed generation projects.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level Project Engineers, concentrating on core competencies in system design and commissioning best practices.
• Serve as a subject matter expert, steering technical decisions and resolving complex design or field challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
• Perform comprehensive technical reviews of essential contractual documents to support customer objectives, validating technical scope, performance guarantees, and acceptance criteria.
• Conduct product diligence and create engineering tools integrated with Anza’s platform to swiftly deliver significant value to platform users.
• Assist with internal technical inquiries from Anza’s Solutions Engineering team, ensuring Anza accurately represents energy storage products and architectures to our clients.
• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
• Over 5 years of relevant experience in energy storage product design and integration, utility-scale energy storage facility design, construction, and commissioning.
• More than 7 years of related experience in power systems design, construction, commissioning, and field support.
• Strong understanding of applicable codes and standards (UL, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, etc.).
• Familiarity with Inverter-Based Resource (IBR) related standards is advantageous (e.g., IEEE 2800, new NERC standards, etc.).
• Experience collaborating with fire departments, building departments, utilities, and ISO/RTOs.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Excel.
• Experience with ETAP, PSSE, PSCAD, PSLF, and Python is a plus.
• Knowledge of communication protocols (Modbus TCP/IP, DNP3, CAN, etc.) and tools (Wireshark).
• Advanced degrees in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Systems, Renewable Energy, or Power Electronics are highly preferred.
