This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee a portfolio of projects from initiation to completion, ensuring precise project records and financial data are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
• Evaluate contract terms and billing specifications while managing Time & Materials, Lump Sum, Cost Plus, Unit Price, and Not-to-Exceed contracts.
• Generate accurate and timely client invoices along with revenue recognition adjustments; coordinate necessary approvals, revisions, and supporting documentation with Project Managers.
• Track project expenses, revenue, accounts receivable, consultant costs, and subcontractor expenditures; investigate discrepancies and assist with collection efforts.
• Deliver financial reporting, aid Project Managers in addressing emerging challenges, and support month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Handle contract amendments and change orders, monitor funding limitations, and ensure comprehensive project and contract documentation is maintained.
• Ensure that project accounting activities adhere to company policies, client specifications, and the terms of public agency, grant-funded, municipal, county, state, and federal contracts.
• Maintain audit-ready documentation and assist with both internal and external audits.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and Operations to resolve intricate issues while ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to contract terms.
• Guide and train Project Accountants and enhance project accounting processes, workflows, and reporting methodologies.
• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is required.
• Over 8 years of progressive experience in project accounting within engineering, environmental, architecture, or construction sectors.
• Proven experience in managing project initiation, contract review, billing, revenue recognition, collections, and project closure.
• Familiarity with administering municipal, county, state, and other public sector contracts, including grant funding and agency-specific billing requirements.
• Proficient in handling Time & Materials, Lump Sum, Cost Plus, Unit Price, and Not-to-Exceed contracts.
• Experience collaborating with Project Managers and operational leadership.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, formulas, and data analysis.
• Strong comprehension of project accounting principles and revenue recognition methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, time management, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
