This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Create agendas for FAR.AI’s events portfolio, which includes approximately 12+ events annually, covering aspects from theory of change to session structure, speaker selection, and attendee composition.
• Recommend speakers and attendees with sound judgment to advance meaningful discussions.
• Review a draft speaker list and quickly identify any omissions; evaluate a draft agenda and promptly recognize areas that need improvement.
• Ensure that programming aligns with the current landscape of the field and forecasts its future direction, collaborating with FAR.AI’s in-house research team to validate content decisions.
• Explore emerging topics and innovative formats while making a compelling intellectual argument for their inclusion.
• Take ownership of content framing for each event by developing event theory of change documents, briefing notes, and framing materials that provide a clear intellectual foundation for the program.
• Lead the process of inviting and engaging speakers, which includes drafting outreach materials, managing speaker preparation, and ensuring speakers are well-equipped to meet the event's objectives.
• Produce written materials that enhance the reach of FAR.AI’s events, including framing documents, research summaries, speaker briefings, and post-event reports.
• Formulate participant strategies for each event, pinpointing the necessary stakeholders, expertise, and perspectives required to fulfill event objectives.
• Monitor which relationships require attention, which discussions should continue, and which outcomes are worth pursuing following each event.
• Establish and nurture connections with senior researchers, lab representatives, policymakers, and field-builders within the AI safety ecosystem.
• Significant experience in designing agendas for technical, academic, or policy-oriented events, with a proven history of intellectually ambitious programs beyond mere organization.
• Ability to translate strategic goals into effective session structures, speaker lists, and room compositions that facilitate achievement of those goals.
• Keen insights into who should participate and what discussions are necessary, developed through years of collaboration with researchers, practitioners, or policymakers.
• Authentic familiarity with the AI safety domain, including its key questions, prominent figures, and ongoing debates.
• A history of producing original written materials such as event framing documents, research summaries, essays, reports, or similar work that reflects deep thinking and a clear perspective.
• Proven capability to engage with high-status or technical stakeholders and manage complex relationships with sensitivity.
• Comfortable proposing ambitious or unconventional ideas and effectively articulating their intellectual merits to senior individuals.
• Proficient in using project management tools (e.g., Asana, Coda, Airtable).
