This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Create agendas for FAR.AI’s diverse event portfolio (approximately 12+ events annually), encompassing the theory of change, session structure, speaker selection, and attendee composition.
• Identify and suggest speakers and attendees, exercising sound judgment on who can advance the conversation.
• Review a preliminary speaker list and quickly discern any omissions; evaluate a draft agenda and promptly spot areas needing adjustment.
• Ensure that the programming accurately reflects the current landscape of the field while anticipating future directions, collaborating with FAR.AI’s in-house research team to validate content choices.
• Make informed decisions on emerging topics and innovative formats, while articulating the intellectual rationale behind them.
• Take ownership of the content framing for each event by developing event theory of change documents, briefing notes, and framing materials that provide the program with a coherent intellectual foundation.
• Oversee the speaker invitation and engagement process, which includes drafting outreach communications, managing speaker preparation, and ensuring speakers are effectively positioned to meet the event's objectives.
• Generate written content that broadens the impact of FAR.AI’s events: including framing documents, research summaries, speaker briefings, and post-event reports.
• Formulate participant strategies for each event, pinpointing the necessary stakeholders, expertise, and perspectives to accomplish the event's goals.
• Monitor relationships that require nurturing, identify ongoing conversations, and determine which outputs merit pursuit following each event.
• Cultivate and sustain relationships with senior researchers, lab representatives, policymakers, and field-builders within the AI safety ecosystem.
• Significant experience in designing agendas for technical, academic, or policy-oriented events, with a proven history of intellectually ambitious programs, not merely well-organized ones.
• Ability to convert a strategic objective into a session structure, speaker list, and room composition that effectively achieves that goal.
• Keen insight into who belongs in the room and what the conversation requires, honed through extensive collaboration with researchers, practitioners, or policymakers.
• Genuine acquaintance with the AI safety domain, including its critical questions, prominent figures, and current discussions.
• Proven track record of original written contributions, such as event framing documents, research summaries, essays, reports, or similar, showcasing depth of thought and a clear perspective.
• Demonstrated capability to engage with high-status or technical stakeholders and manage complex relationships with care.
• Comfort in proposing ambitious or unconventional ideas and effectively making the intellectual case for them to senior stakeholders.
• Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Asana, Coda, Airtable).
• Strong commitment to contributing to AI safety and shaping the future of the field.
• Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
• Generous paid time off and holidays.
• Coverage for work-related travel and equipment expenses.
• Catered lunch and dinner at our Berkeley office.
