Senior Programmer Analyst – 24 Month Contract

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Create, develop, maintain, and enhance enterprise applications, services, integrations, and databases.

• Support and maintain Progress/OpenEdge applications while minimizing reliance on the legacy platform.

• Evaluate application functionality, code, business rules, integrations, and data structures for modernization and migration projects.

• Plan and implement migrations of business processes, data, and functionalities to Salesforce, NetSuite, Snowflake, and other enterprise platforms.

• Create and uphold APIs, integration services, automation, and data-processing solutions.

• Execute data extraction, transformation, migration, validation, and reconciliation tasks.

• Diagnose complex issues related to applications, databases, and integrations, and conduct root-cause analysis.

• Collaborate with technical experts, business stakeholders, Data Management, application teams, and external vendors.

• Develop and maintain technical designs, documentation, interface specifications, data models, code documentation, and operational support procedures.

• Engage in requirements gathering, technical design, development, code review, testing, deployment, and production support throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

• Assist in source control, environment management, and release management practices.

• Guide technical resources and contribute to knowledge transfer and development standards.

• Identify opportunities to replace custom legacy functionalities with reusable enterprise capabilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• Over 5 years of senior application development experience in complex enterprise settings.

• Proficient programming and software development skills.

• Extensive experience with relational databases, SQL, data modeling, and data integration.

• Solid understanding of REST APIs, web services, and contemporary integration patterns.

• Experience throughout the entire software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.

• Experience in modernizing, integrating, or migrating legacy enterprise applications.

• Ability to comprehend complex existing code, databases, and business rules and translate them into modern solutions.

• Familiarity with source control, release management, and development environment management.

• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.

• Excellent technical documentation and communication abilities.

• Capacity to work independently while effectively collaborating with multidisciplinary technical and business teams.

• Experience with Progress OpenEdge ABL/4GL and OpenEdge Database is a plus.

• Familiarity with C#, .NET/.NET Core or similar modern enterprise development technologies is an advantage.

• Experience in migrating applications or data from Progress OpenEdge or comparable legacy platforms is beneficial.

• Familiarity with Salesforce, NetSuite, or other enterprise CRM/ERP platforms is advantageous.

• Experience integrating applications with Snowflake or other cloud data platforms is a plus.

• Knowledge of ETL/ELT, Change Data Capture (CDC), or enterprise data migration technologies is an asset.

• Proficiency in PowerShell or similar automation/scripting technologies is a plus.

• Experience developing or supporting applications related to benefits, insurance, membership administration, or financial processing is an asset.

• Experience working with third-party implementation partners and technology vendors is a plus.
