This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland.
• Develop systems that convert raw restaurant data into real-time insights, enabling operators to identify opportunities and safeguard their profit margins.
• Create embedded analytics that deliver the appropriate insights at the perfect moment within the product, allowing operators to act without leaving Nory.
• Release upgrades to our forecasting engine, enhancing prediction accuracy and reliability, so operators can depend on them for planning purposes.
• Broaden the Insights platform with new functionalities related to cost management and business performance, including advancements toward dynamic pricing.
• Assist in constructing a self-service analytics layer that empowers operators to explore their data and gauge business performance without relying on external tools.
• Contribute to our customer feedback module, where sentiment analysis and automation assist brands in maintaining their online presence.
• Collaborate closely with colleagues in Product, Design, and Engineering to deliver promptly and uphold our technical standards as we expand.
• Proficiency in backend development is essential. You have built and maintained production backend systems that real customers rely on, including APIs, data models, and distributed services. You can discuss specific data modeling choices you made, the constraints you faced, and the rationale behind your decisions. You design systems with an understanding of potential failures, not just the ideal scenarios.
• Familiarity with the entire stack is important. You have delivered front-end work using React and TypeScript alongside your backend contributions, and you can navigate between the two based on project needs. This team has a relatively balanced focus on front-end and backend work, and we seek someone capable of managing tasks on both fronts.
• You take ownership of problems instead of merely managing tickets. You can reference specific instances where you influenced outcomes, pushed back on vague requirements, or proposed alternative solutions when initial plans were flawed, and you accept responsibility for the results. In discussing your work, you often use "I decided" rather than "we decided."
• You have experience working in constrained environments. Whether that involved a startup, a high-stakes initiative within a larger organization, or a greenfield project with tight deadlines, you have navigated real ambiguity and delivered impactful results. You understand what constitutes an MVP because you have successfully released one.
• You engage directly with customers. You have interacted with users, allowed their feedback to influence your development, and can provide specific examples of when their input led to changes in your work. You consider customer feedback a vital aspect of engineering and maintain close connections with it.
• You remain pragmatic under pressure. You have intentionally released rough iterations to gather feedback quickly, and you can discern when a challenge requires an optimal solution as opposed to the quickest one that validates the concept.
• Remote-first working environment
• Competitive salary based on experience
• Meaningful equity; at Nory, everyone is an owner
• 35 days of paid leave annually (including bank holidays)
• Comprehensive private health insurance through Irish Life (Ireland) and AXA (UK)
• Enhanced parental leave and support for baby loss
• A culture of learning and development, with a €1,000 personal annual budget plus a quarterly book budget
• €250 budget for home office workspace
• Regular team offsites and social events
• Flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 3 months each year
• Offices located in London, Dublin, or Spain
