Senior Product Designer – Embed

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• At Kota Embed, you will create a platform where sort-order decisions impact real financial outcomes for tens of thousands of individuals.

• Collaborate on a data model that is designed in tandem with the user interface.

• Engage with 6 to 10 stakeholders during critical decision-making processes.

• Transform constraints into design opportunities rather than viewing them as barriers.

• Develop prototypes that serve as specifications, contributing to a collection of recognized, citable design patterns instead of dissolving into unstructured Figma files.

• This position is not a conventional senior individual contributor role; it requires adaptability in a dynamic environment where you must maintain design quality amidst ongoing changes.

⛳️ Requirements

• A designer with experience working in a complex product environment (preferably B2B, ideally API-driven) who understands the relationship between the data model and the interface, finding this relationship intriguing rather than frustrating.

• Demonstrated success in shipping products that involve invisible complexity—not merely marketing sites or simple dashboards. You should be able to articulate your thought process behind these projects.

• Familiarity with research methodologies at a sprint pace, such as conducting 5-user tests, rapid prototyping using Figma Make/Cursor/Paper, analyzing logs from Datadog/Mixpanel, and leading internal design reviews. You also recognize when it's appropriate to forego research in favor of shipping. Your guiding principle: "rough data is better than no data; you can't eliminate uncertainty—manage it."

• A focus on outcomes rather than outputs, ensuring that problem definitions, assumptions, and success criteria are established before finalizing solutions.

• Proficiency in systems thinking—elevating patterns to fundamental design elements, where recurring interaction points evolve into components of a design system.

• Experience influencing user experience within teams, including encouraging developers and stakeholders to participate in usability sessions, and orchestrating team ceremonies (standups, retrospectives, backlog grooming) to ensure design is a collective team endeavor rather than an isolated task.

• Strong grasp of craft fundamentals, including typography, spacing, rhythm, and hierarchy. You focus on quality and speed simultaneously, even when working at 400% zoom.

• Skilled in builder craft, with comfort in Cursor and Claude Code. Recognizing that prototypes serve as specifications, your goal is to produce functional prototypes that bridge the gap between design and engineering, rather than widen it.
