This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Take ownership of the design infrastructure that propels Momentus' AI-first product strategy forward.
• Review current product-line-specific Figma libraries, then spearhead the transition to a component system that resides in code, utilizing tokens as the definitive source of truth.
• Develop and uphold LLM-readable system documentation that is accessible to designers, engineers, and Claude.
• Manage the context layer: structured prompt libraries, MCP server integration, and system artifacts that ensure Claude delivers consistent, on-brand, and accessible outputs.
• Implement governance that considers AI-generated code in addition to human-authored contributions.
• Monitor and report on system health metrics linked to business outcomes: product velocity, cycle time, and shipped features, as well as coverage and adoption rates.
• Direct the design of Momentus' AI interaction patterns as the primary design surface, addressing non-deterministic outputs, trust and transparency, agentic workflow UIs, and progressive disclosure of AI behavior.
• Establish standards for the visual, functional, and communicative aspects of AI features across all product lines.
• Design reusable patterns for supporting interfaces: onboarding workflows, reporting and analytics dashboards, and other relevant surfaces.
• Collaborate with Engineering to establish token architecture, component APIs, and the front-end framework that ensures the system's scalability and AI-agent compatibility.
• Work together with Product Management to align system initiatives with the AI-first product roadmap.
• Enhance the design team's capabilities through collaboration, critique, and informal mentorship across all product lines.
• Set and maintain visual and interaction quality standards throughout all product lines.
• Advocate for accessibility in accordance with WCAG 2.2 AA, leveraging AI tools (such as automated audits, contrast checks, and alt-text generation) to expedite compliance rather than viewing it as an overhead task.
• Participate in design reviews, providing feedback that is rooted in system standards and AI-first principles.
• Oversee the annual generation of VPAT across all product lines, coordinating with Engineering and QA to evaluate conformance, accurately document findings, and publish updated reports on a regular schedule.
• Proven experience in building or significantly enhancing a design system within a multi-product B2B SaaS environment.
• Currently working with AI-assisted workflows, particularly utilizing tools like Claude, Claude Code, and Claude Design.
• Proficient in producing shippable components and contributing to a shared component repository.
• Well-versed in design tokens as a source-of-truth architecture, component APIs, and front-end structures that enable AI-agent usability.
• Experience in designing AI interaction surfaces, including non-deterministic outputs, agentic workflows, or patterns of trust and transparency.
• Excellent communication and documentation abilities, capable of crafting system guidance that benefits both LLMs and human engineers.
• Background in working within a remote, cross-functional team environment.
• Flexible work arrangements.
• Opportunities for professional development.
