This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Serve as the primary expert advisor to our product management, development, engineering, support, and marketing teams, offering strategic insights on commercial terms, privacy considerations, global regulatory compliance, privacy-by-design principles, data protection, and the ethical use of AI.
• Shape the design and execution of products by providing counsel on legal, ethical, and regulatory matters related to emerging technologies.
• Create clear and concise agreements, terms of use, and public-facing disclosures. Lead intricate technology transactions by negotiating commercial and licensing contracts.
• Conduct thorough legal analysis and keep abreast of evolving regulations (such as those concerning cybersecurity and AI) to convert complex requirements into practical, solution-oriented advice.
• Review and interpret third-party posted terms to assist product teams and ensure compliance with Optro standards.
• Offer pragmatic and strategic counsel that considers legal risks, product adoption, and the advancement of business objectives and initiatives.
• Oversee the Legal department's involvement in formulating commercial strategies for new products.
• J.D. degree and admission to practice law in at least one state bar.
• 8-12 years of experience in a national law firm or in-house legal department, specializing in product counseling and technology transactions.
• A technical background or previous internal audit experience is preferred to facilitate deep collaboration with technical leads.
• Proven track record in advising on AI applications, cloud services, data privacy, and cybersecurity standards.
• Familiarity with multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001 is advantageous.
• Exceptional capability to distill complex technical and legal concepts into clear, actionable guidance for various business partners.
• A creative problem-solver with a sense of humor, high integrity, and the capacity to excel in a collaborative, team-focused setting.
