This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Collaborate with KOHO Tech and KOHO Bank to offer actionable regulatory insights that foster growth while ensuring customer protection.
• Assist in designing and launching new financial products and features, proactively identifying regulatory risks and aiding teams in creating compliant solutions.
• Play a pivotal role in establishing and operationalizing a regulated bank at KOHO, including facilitating engagement with regulators such as OSFI, FCAC, and the Bank of Canada.
• Support marketing and growth initiatives by ensuring that campaigns are both effective and compliant with financial services and consumer protection regulations.
• Provide direction to customer-facing teams regarding complaint management, communication strategies, and fairness considerations.
• Help develop scalable legal and regulatory frameworks to bolster KOHO’s long-term growth as a regulated financial entity.
• Over 6 years of post-call experience as a lawyer practicing in Canada (either in-house or at a law firm).
• Experience in advising on financial services regulation, banking law, or consumer protection regulations.
• Strong judgment skills and the capability to deliver practical, business-focused legal advice.
• Comfortable collaborating across functions with Product, Marketing, CX, Risk, and Compliance teams.
• High sense of ownership — demonstrates initiative and prioritizes solutions over problems.
• Builder mentality, inclined towards action in dynamic environments.
• Inquisitive and quick to grasp new concepts.
• Proactive and exceptionally organized.
• Comfortable navigating high-ambiguity situations.

• Experience in a bank, fintech, or regulated financial institution (preferred).
• Familiarity with RPAA and the Financial Consumer Protection Framework (FCPF) (preferred).
• Knowledge of AML/ATF regulations and privacy laws (preferred).
• Proficiency in French (preferred).
