Senior Privacy Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North America.

📋 Description

• As a member of the Privacy Functional Team, you will spearhead intricate projects aligned with essential company objectives.

• Your role involves safeguarding user privacy through the use of Go, Node.js, Python, and occasionally Perl, enabling you to write effective, testable, and pragmatic code while engaging in related initiatives.

• Possible projects may include developing systems to enhance our search indexes and AI capabilities without jeopardizing user privacy.

• You will be tasked with creating new functionalities on our Tracker Radar crawler to identify emerging privacy risks.

• Implementing new privacy features and upholding existing ones, such as our Web Tracking and Email Protections, will be part of your responsibilities.

• A significant aspect of your role will involve participating in our privacy review and audit processes to ensure that all product advancements adhere to our privacy principles.

• Over time, you will have the opportunity to formally mentor other engineers, fostering their professional development and contributing to the growth of the Privacy Team at DuckDuckGo.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven ability to lead and collaborate on significant and complex projects from inception to post-mortem evaluation.

• Skills to navigate ambiguous challenges, propose creative solutions, and implement them efficiently while involving others as needed.

• Experience in engineering roles focused on privacy solutions (e.g., tracker blockers, differential privacy, or similar technologies).

• Strong technical knowledge of online privacy threats and the current solutions available to mitigate them.

• Proficiency in one or more of the following programming languages: Go, Node.js, Python, Perl.

• Exceptional communication abilities, allowing you to articulate your decisions clearly to a diverse range of audiences, including those who are not technically inclined.
