Senior Principal Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support BMC3 software development for the PWSA, ensuring the seamless integration of cloud-hosted environments with mission-critical space applications.

• Oversee all stages of the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, architecture design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.

• Design and enhance the secure software hosting environment to guarantee high performance and resilience for SDA’s mission applications.

• Provide technical leadership and oversight in the integration of software components, ensuring their compatibility with both space and ground system architectures.

• Resolve complex issues in development, testing, and operational environments, addressing cybersecurity vulnerabilities and challenges related to mission-critical systems.

• Continuously assess emerging technologies and industry best practices to propose enhancements that improve capabilities and system security.

• Mentor junior engineers, cultivating a collaborative culture that prioritizes innovation and technical development.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related STEM field.

• A minimum of 14 years of relevant experience in software and hardware development, integration, and operations.

• Proven expertise in the complete software development lifecycle and software methodologies, including Agile development practices.

• Strong technical knowledge of software architecture, cloud computing, and secure hosting environments.

• Proficiency in Object-Oriented programming languages.

• Active security clearance (minimum Secret level, TS/SCI preferred).

• Leadership or managerial experience in a technical role supporting large-scale, multi-disciplinary programs.

• **Desired Experience and Certifications:**

• Experience in the development and deployment of DevSecOps pipelines within a cloud environment.

• Familiarity with space communication protocols, standards, and frameworks.

• Strong understanding of cybersecurity and relevant frameworks (e.g., NIST, RMF).
