Senior Principal Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and lead the enterprise architecture strategy, target-state architecture, and multi-year technology roadmap that aligns with business goals and the Value Creation Plan (VCP) priorities.

• Establish principles, guardrails, and standards for enterprise architecture that enhance consistency, scalability, resilience, and operational efficiency throughout the technology landscape.

• Direct technology strategy for key modernization efforts, which include platform transformation, application rationalization, data architecture advancement, and AI integration.

• Act as the architectural authority for the most intricate and high-impact technical decisions within the organization.

• Promote the use of AI-assisted software delivery methodologies across Architecture, Product Development, and Engineering teams.

• Define architectural patterns and guidelines for AI-powered applications, agentic workflows, intelligent automation, and Generative AI solutions.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to expedite the adoption of AI-first Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices that enhance developer productivity, architectural uniformity, and delivery speed.

• Create frameworks that allow architecture artifacts, specifications, governance controls, and design standards to be utilized by AI-enabled development tools and agents.

• Oversee architecture for strategic initiatives that span various business domains, products, teams, and technology platforms.

• Design distributed, cloud-native solutions employing microservices, event-driven architecture, API-first design, and domain-driven design principles.

• Establish enterprise integration patterns, canonical data models, and platform capabilities that foster reuse and minimize technology fragmentation.

• Ensure that architectural decisions support long-term maintainability while facilitating rapid business growth and innovation.

• Implement governance processes that enhance architectural quality, delivery predictability, risk management, and visibility of dependencies.

• Lead Architecture Review Boards and conduct Architecture & Design reviews for significant initiatives and strategic investments.

• Propel the reduction of technical debt through modernization roadmaps, standardization initiatives, and measurable improvements in engineering quality.

• Ensure that solutions comply with security, compliance, reliability, resilience, and operational excellence standards.

• Mentor Principal Architects, Senior Architects, and engineering leaders to enhance architectural capabilities across the organization.

• Contribute to the development of architecture career pathways, competency frameworks, interview standards, and technical leadership growth programs.

• Create reusable architecture assets, reference architectures, decision frameworks, and best practices that can be utilized by various teams.

• Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, promoting a culture of engineering excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.

• Assess emerging technologies and industry trends, including AI, cloud-native platforms, platform engineering, developer productivity tools, and intelligent automation.

• Identify opportunities to utilize technology investments to enhance business outcomes, operational efficiency, customer experience, and scalability.

• Guide strategic platform decisions and build-versus-buy evaluations through architectural and financial analysis.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; advanced degree is preferred.

• 15+ years of experience in software engineering, enterprise architecture, solution architecture, or technical leadership roles.

• Demonstrated success in leading architecture strategy for large-scale, enterprise-grade platforms and distributed systems.

• Experience in influencing technology direction across diverse products, business domains, and engineering organizations.

• Extensive knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks and governance practices in architecture.

• Strong background in designing cloud-native systems on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

• Proficiency in microservices, event-driven architectures, APIs, distributed systems, container platforms, and contemporary integration patterns.

• Solid understanding of data architecture, modern data platforms, data streaming, AI/ML enablement, and analytics ecosystems.

• Proven experience in building highly scalable, highly available, secure systems in complex enterprise environments.

• Familiarity with platform engineering, developer experience (DevEx), and modern software delivery methodologies.

• Demonstrated ability to leverage AI-enabled development practices and AI-assisted SDLC capabilities.

• Understanding of Generative AI architectures, LLM integration patterns, Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), AI agents, and responsible AI principles.

• Experience in enabling organizations to adopt AI-driven engineering practices that enhance delivery speed, quality, and developer productivity.

• Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of influencing executives, engineering leaders, architects, and product teams.

• Proven ability to drive organizational alignment amid competing priorities and complex enterprise initiatives.

• Strong strategic thinking, systems thinking, and decision-making abilities.

• Proven capacity to lead through influence rather than direct authority.
