This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Conduct original policy research, perform environmental scans, and carry out jurisdictional analyses to guide Mitacs’s growth and long-term strategy.
• Identify emerging opportunities in research, innovation, talent development, and economic policy that will shape Mitacs programs and partnerships.
• Provide evidence-based policy recommendations that support organizational transformation and align with stakeholder expectations.
• Develop strategic insights that assist executives in making informed decisions regarding new directions, partnerships, and funding opportunities.
• Clearly articulate the rationale for new programs by anchoring them in research and public priorities.
• Produce intelligence briefs and co-author funding proposals that leverage policy analysis, program impact, and organizational strategy.
• Collaborate with the Evaluations team to translate program results into compelling narratives for governments and partners.
• A graduate degree in public policy, economics, political science, sociology, or a related field is preferred.
• 5–8+ years of experience in policy analysis, public-sector research, strategic planning, or roles associated with government.
• Demonstrated experience in conducting original policy research that informs strategy or program design.
• Strong understanding of government decision-making, funding processes, and public-sector priorities.
• Exceptional writing and communication abilities.
• Experience contributing to organizational strategy or transformation initiatives is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in working with data, evaluation findings, and qualitative/quantitative research methodologies.
• Familiarity with innovation, research, or economic development policy is advantageous.
