Senior Platform Software Engineer, Transport

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.

📋 Description

• Become a member of a senior, distributed team: Join a tightly-knit group of experienced engineers operating at the crossroads of application and infrastructure, engaging asynchronously with continuous communication in public Slack channels.

• Design and build platform infrastructure: Architect, create, and manage essential components of our multi-cell platform, which includes service routing, cloud networking, and the control plane for overseeing account lifecycles.

• Facilitate smooth migrations: Create and automate tools to transition customer accounts from legacy environments to the new multi-cell architecture on a large scale.

• Develop scalable backend services: Construct resilient, high-quality backend services and infrastructure code, primarily utilizing Go and Python, with opportunities to engage in Rust.

• Address cloud networking challenges: Collaborate on the design of network architecture, including VPC management, load balancing, DNS, PrivateLink, and service mesh configurations to accommodate both single-tenant and multi-tenant deployments.

• Automate for scalability: Design and implement automation solutions using tools like Argo Workflows, Kubernetes, and Terraform to improve the reliability, efficiency, and scalability of our platform.

• Collaborate and mentor: Partner closely with product engineering teams, security, and customer support to facilitate feature conformance, establish technical direction, and mentor fellow engineers.

• Take ownership and troubleshoot: Exhibit strong ownership of distributed systems, diagnose complex issues across application and network layers, and participate in an on-call rotation to ensure high availability.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional software engineering experience, especially in platform, infrastructure, or backend roles that support SaaS applications.

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline is preferred; however, equivalent practical experience or completion of a bootcamp with relevant work history will also be taken into account.

• Experience working asynchronously as part of a fully-remote, distributed team.

• Proficient backend or platform engineer, experienced in languages such as Go or Python, with a proven record of building large-scale distributed systems.

• In-depth knowledge of modern cloud infrastructure, including significant hands-on experience with a leading cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).

• Excel at the intersection of product and infrastructure, showing a passion for developing internal platforms and automation that enhance developer productivity and platform reliability.

• Familiarity with cloud networking concepts, such as load balancing, DNS, VPCs, proxies, and service mesh technologies — or a strong desire to learn and advance in this area.

• Demonstrate strong ownership of your work from start to finish, showcasing a systematic, customer-focused approach to problem-solving and a history of contributing to complex technical projects.

• A proactive and collaborative communicator, adept at conveying technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and effectively working across team boundaries.
