Senior Platform Engineer - Platform Metal

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +4 more countries.

📋 Description

• Oversee the physical “Metal” infrastructure from bare metal to Kubernetes.

• Manage networking components of the cluster, which includes load balancing, NAT, DNS, CNIs, cross-cluster communication, routing protocols, and overall architecture.

• Handle scheduling and autoscaling tasks.

• Maintain Crossplane compositions and Terraform modules for cloud service provider resources.

• Manage versioning and compatibility for Crossplane, Terraform core, and its providers.

• Collaborate with Grafana Cloud application teams to comprehend their requirements and invest in appropriate capabilities.

• Comfortable operating within a remote-first organization.

• Experienced in distributed systems.

• Adopts a holistic software development methodology, which includes design documentation, developer feedback, and integration testing.

• Proficient in executing code and supporting both operators and developers.

• Knowledgeable in Go, Python, and Shell programming languages.

• Possesses datacenter experience.

• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation.

• Familiarity with Cluster-API, Tinkerbell, Talos, and/or Ceph is an advantage.

• Experience with open-source or community-driven projects is a plus.

• Knowledge of AWS, GCP, and Azure, including EKS, GKE, and AKS, is beneficial.

• Background in operating and managing Kubernetes workloads is a bonus.

• Understanding of Kubernetes scheduling and Karpenter is advantageous.

• Experience with Terraform and/or Crossplane is a plus.

• Proficient in programming with Go is an advantage.
