Senior Platform Engineer, Ingestion

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.

📋 Description

• Develop and enhance critical systems: design and maintain high-throughput, data-heavy ingestion and trace-query systems for LangSmith, utilizing SmithDB, our specialized database for agent observability. Implement monitoring, alerting, and automated recovery to ensure the pipeline remains resilient.

• Establish API, SDK, and CLI standards: define and uphold the standards, tools, and CI that drive SDK generation across Python, TypeScript, Go, and Java; ensure our developer interfaces are consistent, high-quality, and self-serviceable across feature teams.

• Manage integrations: create new integrations and sustain existing ones to facilitate seamless use of LangSmith with any AI framework, agent, or tool — maintaining our framework-agnostic stance.

• Tackle complex challenges: troubleshoot performance issues, optimize database queries, and design solutions for distributed-system difficulties.

• Address incidents: take part in an on-call rotation focusing on post-incident analysis, automation, and preventative measures.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in designing and operating data-intensive systems at scale.

• A history of creating high-quality, widely-used CLIs, SDKs, or API standards that developers appreciate.

• Practical experience with open-source datastores (PostgreSQL, Redis).

• Strong backend software engineering skills with production experience in Go, Python, or TypeScript.

• Comprehensive knowledge of cloud object storage, Kubernetes, containerized infrastructure, and cloud platforms (GCP, AWS).

• Hands-on experience with observability stacks (Datadog, Prometheus/Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or similar).
