Senior Platform Engineer, Cloud Infrastructure

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and manage production Kubernetes clusters, focusing on networking, workload isolation, and multi-region architectures.

• Engage with Kubernetes internals, including resource quotas, scheduling, NetworkPolicy enforcement, and custom controllers or operators.

• Implement and manage service mesh functionalities, featuring mTLS, workload authentication and authorization, as well as traffic management.

• Enhance the performance, cost-effectiveness, and resource efficiency of containerized workloads.

• Develop, refactor, and sustain production services, controllers, and middleware using Go, Python, or Java.

• Create HTTP, REST, and gRPC interfaces for internal engineering teams.

• Write unit and integration tests.

• Lead incident response efforts, investigate root causes, and document postmortems.

• Diagnose production systems leveraging logs, metrics, traces, and profiling tools.

• Establish and promote SLOs and actionable alerting strategies.

• Manage infrastructure as code and ensure the maintenance of reusable modules.

• Develop and enhance CI/CD and GitOps delivery workflows.

• Strategize and execute cloud migration projects while ensuring reliability and minimizing downtime.

• Create and maintain metrics, dashboards, alerting policies, and distributed tracing.

• Collaborate with product, security, and infrastructure teams to define requirements and architecture.

• Participate in design reviews, set technical direction, and mentor engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of professional experience in software, platform, infrastructure, or site reliability engineering.

• Extensive experience in the operation of production distributed systems.

• Proven experience in building and managing production Kubernetes platforms.

• Production-level experience programming in Go, Python, or Java.

• Ability to transition systems from ambiguous initial stages to production readiness.

• Experience migrating production cloud services across different providers or environments.

• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Strong grasp of Kubernetes internals, including CNI networking, NetworkPolicy, resource management, and cluster behavior under load.

• Practical experience with service meshes such as Istio, Envoy, or Linkerd, along with mTLS and workload identity.

• Solid Linux fundamentals, including knowledge of cgroups and resource management.

• Experience with infrastructure as code at scale using Terraform or equivalent.

• Production experience with cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure.

• Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and query languages like PromQL.

• Production experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or managed Postgres-compatible services.

• Experience with Docker and container tooling.

• Excellent debugging and performance profiling skills.

• Preferred experience with Go testing frameworks such as Ginkgo and Gomega.

• Preferred experience in building Kubernetes controllers or operators.

• Additional proficiency in Python is preferred.

• Knowledge of IAM technologies such as SSO, Keycloak, OIDC, SAML, or Vault is preferred.

• Experience in designing high availability and disaster recovery solutions across regions or providers is preferred.

• Familiarity with monorepos and build systems like Bazel is preferred.

• Ability to read Java code is preferred.

• Exposure to SOC 2 or GDPR regulations is preferred.

• Experience with Alibaba Cloud is highly preferred.

• Familiarity with Apache Spark and Apache Flink is highly preferred.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
