This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• Manage and enhance our Kubernetes environment (Amazon EKS and on-prem clusters via Rancher). Every deployment at Yazio relies on what you oversee.
• Automate deployment and scaling processes so that releases become seamless, while guiding engineering teams to maximize that automation.
• Develop observability measures to identify issues before users are aware of them, including metrics, dashboards, and alerting systems.
• Investigate infrastructure-level incidents and implement lasting solutions based on your findings.
• Create the abstractions that enable Backend and Data Engineers to deploy without needing to submit a ticket.
• Play a significant role in our transition away from remaining self-hosted infrastructure, determining what transitions to the cloud, what remains, and what can be automated.
• You have extensive experience operating Kubernetes in production environments, including upgrades, capacity planning, and debugging the cluster itself, not just the workloads.
• You naturally incorporate observability, GitOps, and deployment automation into your workflow, rather than treating them as add-ons.
• You are comfortable working on a Linux host, and you automate tasks after the first manual attempt.
• You possess sufficient knowledge of databases (both relational and key-value) and networking to troubleshoot production issues; you don’t need to be a DBA or network engineer, as curiosity fills the gaps.
• You thrive in small teams with shifting priorities, where specifications are not handed to you.
• When you discuss complex technical trade-offs, your explanations leave others with a clearer understanding.
• Bonus points if you have experience with Go (as much of our tooling is developed in it, along with the Kubernetes ecosystem) or Python beyond simple scripting.
• Experience running self-hosted databases in production, including replication and recovery.
• Strong networking knowledge (TLS, TCP/UDP internals).
• Experience operating on-prem Kubernetes with Rancher.
• 30 vacation days for relaxation and rejuvenation.
• 5 child sick days for when your little one needs your attention.
• A culture focused on efficiency, valuing results over long hours—no expectations for overtime, and if it occurs, you will receive that time back!
• A high-impact work environment where your contributions lead to tangible change—swift decision-making processes without micromanagement.
• A team culture that balances ambition with well-being, fostered by strong connections, including fully covered company retreats, team meetups, and virtual coffee breaks.
• Access to tools and support to excel in your role: MacBook, monitor, and a €1,000 annual learning budget, along with regular feedback and career development opportunities.
• Be part of a truly international team, with English as our company language and a shared commitment to growth and well-being, supported by Sunday Supplements and Nilo Health.
