Senior Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Design and uphold Traild's secure, scalable, and dependable cloud-native platform.

• Architect, implement, and enhance infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform.

• Construct and oversee infrastructure as code utilizing Terraform.

• Manage Cloud Run and Kubernetes in a production environment at scale.

• Architect and oversee cloud networking, which includes VPCs, load balancers, firewalls, routing, and service meshes.

• Integrate security best practices throughout infrastructure, deployments, and platform tools.

• Create, develop, and maintain internal developer tools.

• Take ownership of the CI/CD pipeline to facilitate automated testing, secure deployments, and quick feedback loops.

• Enhance local development workflows and ensure consistency between development and production environments.

• Establish exemplary practices for build systems, deployment automation, and platform standards.

• Oversee observability systems, including logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting.

• Lead initiatives aimed at reducing time-to-deploy and mean-time-to-recovery.

• Enhance platform performance, resilience, and cost efficiency through automation and optimization.

• Collaborate with product, application, and infrastructure teams to accelerate delivery, minimize friction, and ensure high availability across various cloud regions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience as a Senior Platform Engineer.

• Extensive knowledge of GCP, Terraform, Kubernetes, and Cloud Run.

• Strong grasp of cloud-native architectures, distributed systems, and microservices.

• Experience in building and managing CI/CD pipelines, including GitHub Actions or ArgoCD.

• Solid background in observability, including logging, monitoring, and alerting.

• Proficiency in Python, Go, or similar programming languages for automation and tooling.

• In-depth understanding of cloud security, identity management, and secure delivery protocols.

• Excellent debugging and problem-solving capabilities across infrastructure, platforms, and build pipelines.

• Collaborative and customer-focused attitude with a dedication to empowering others to deliver quickly and confidently.

• Candidates located in Melbourne are highly preferred for face-to-face collaboration and brainstorming sessions.

• Experience with developer portals or internal platform tools.

• Background in platform engineering, SRE, or DevOps.

• Experience in supporting production-grade, multi-tenant SaaS platforms.

• Familiarity with secure software supply chains and build provenance.

• Experience with Linux systems.

• Exposure to ERP integrations or financial systems.
