Senior Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Oversee daily platform operations within AWS infrastructure and Kubernetes environments.

• Enhance the reliability, scalability, and performance of systems that support our learning platform.

• Manage and develop multiple EKS clusters in both production and non-production settings.

• Create internal self-service tools and engineering guidelines that enable developers to deploy safely and independently.

• Optimize CI/CD workflows utilizing GitHub Actions and GitOps methodologies with ArgoCD.

• Lead initiatives to improve observability through DataDog, including dashboards, alerting, and readiness for incident response.

• Collaborate with software engineers, QA, product, and security teams to eliminate friction and enhance delivery speed.

• Guide infrastructure modifications from start to finish using Terraform and contemporary Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.

• Minimize operational toil through automation, standardization, and thoughtful platform architecture.

• Engage in an on-call rotation that emphasizes ownership, reliability, and continuous enhancement.

• Mentor colleagues through collaboration, code reviews, and best practices in operations.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE, or similar infrastructure roles.

• Solid hands-on experience managing production workloads in AWS.

• Extensive experience with Kubernetes (EKS preferred).

• Proficient in managing infrastructure with Terraform or comparable IaC tools.

• Experience in developing or overseeing CI/CD systems.

• Strong troubleshooting capabilities across networking, containers, distributed systems, and production incidents.

• Ability to balance immediate operational requirements with long-term engineering enhancements.

• Excellent written communication skills and comfort in a remote-first working environment.

• Must be a U.S. citizen and reside in the U.S.
