Senior Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Automate the Azure infrastructure that supports our products from start to finish.

• Strengthen existing infrastructure, modernize where necessary, and construct new systems correctly from the outset using Bicep and ARM templates.

• Develop and enhance our DataDog implementation, focusing on its usage beyond mere configuration.

• Ensure that our Azure environment, pipelines, and applications adhere to security best practices.

• Define and standardize what constitutes a 'healthy' system.

• Take responsibility for the reliability and performance of our Azure DevOps pipelines.

• Create self-service tools, establish standards, and produce documentation.

• Lead performance investigations and manage post-incident reviews.

• Serve as a consultant and mentor to development teams regarding cloud best practices, security measures, reliability patterns, and observability.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in platform engineering, site reliability, or a cloud infrastructure position.

• Extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, covering compute, networking, storage, identity, and security.

• Expertise in Azure Bicep and/or ARM templates for infrastructure-as-code implementation.

• Strong background in Azure DevOps, including YAML pipelines, repositories, and artifact management.

• Proven experience in building or significantly enhancing an observability practice; familiarity with Datadog is a strong advantage.

• Ability to diagnose complex performance issues in distributed systems from foundational principles.

• Excellent written communication skills; you have created documentation and runbooks that are effectively used by others.

• Comfortable collaborating closely with software development teams, rather than functioning as a separate operations unit.

• Bonus: Experience in developing internal developer platforms or self-service tools, or a strong interest in pursuing such projects for the first time.
