Senior Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Contribute to the evolution of the systems that drive Midnite as we expand into new markets and regions.

• Collaborate with the Australia team and the broader global Platform group on backend and platform systems.

• Design, develop, and enhance backend and platform systems that underpin Midnite’s core offerings.

• Address intricate platform challenges related to scalability, reliability, service isolation, and regional preparedness.

• Establish clear boundaries and interfaces among existing services and data flows.

• Enhance observability, deployment practices, performance, and operational maturity.

• Participate in production code contributions, reviews, and technical design as part of daily operations.

• Assist in identifying failure points, mitigating risks, and bolstering the platform’s resilience as user demand increases.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive senior-level experience in backend or platform engineering.

• Proven track record of independently delivering complex technical projects.

• Proficient backend skills in Python or a similar modern programming language such as Go, Rust, Java, or Scala.

• Quick to learn new languages and systems.

• Strong grasp of distributed systems, scalability, and architectural trade-offs.

• Familiarity with microservices, service boundaries, eventual consistency, data separation, or reliability engineering.

• Comfortable working with both application-layer systems and platform/infrastructure aspects.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across different time zones.

• High sense of ownership, strong judgment, and the ability to navigate ambiguity.
