Senior Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and sustain core cloud platform functionalities, primarily within AWS, encompassing networking, containers, compute, storage, identity, and security foundations.

• Create and oversee reusable infrastructure components (e.g., storage, compute, networking patterns) as standardized, documented platform assets.

• Establish and uphold Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform (or a similar tool) as the standard for all infrastructure provisioning and change management.

• Define and maintain platform standards, reference architectures, and sanctioned implementation patterns.

• Architect infrastructure with a focus on reliability-by-design, incorporating immutability, automation, ephemerality, recovery patterns, and clearly defined failure domains.

• Develop automation and self-service capabilities that empower application teams to safely utilize infrastructure without direct intervention from the platform team.

• Collaborate with the Security team to ensure that platform designs inherently meet SOC2, HIPAA, HITRUST, and future compliance requirements through guardrails and policy-driven controls.

• Integrate security, reliability, and cost-awareness early in CI/CD and deployment workflows (“shift-left”).

• Work alongside cross-functional engineering and operations teams to minimize incidents through enhanced platform design rather than reactive measures.

• Mentor and assist fellow engineers by sharing patterns, best practices, and technical insights.

• Maintain overall responsibility for platform standards, ensuring consistency, integration, and adherence across all platform domains.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, or DevOps-related roles, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.

• Practical experience operating AWS in production settings.

• Strong familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform preferred).

• Proficient in automation and scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash).

• Solid experience with collaborative development tools (e.g., Git, GitHub).

• Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Octopus Deploy).

• Background in designing secure, scalable systems instead of manually managing them.
