Senior Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the design, integration, and active implementation of enterprise platform infrastructure that supports the modernization initiatives of private cloud SDDC.

• Create and execute automated deployment strategies for VMware-based virtualization, compute, storage, and platform services that support ECS, CPS, IaaS, and SMC.

• Deploy and integrate VMware Cloud Foundation, vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, NSX, vSAN, along with related platform services.

• Work collaboratively with networking, cybersecurity, DevOps, and infrastructure engineering teams to incorporate platform capabilities into secure enterprise solutions.

• Develop platform automation utilizing IaC, Ansible, Terraform, PowerShell, or similar technologies.

• Integrate COTS compute, virtualization, storage, and cloud infrastructure within secure enterprise environments.

• Design and implement solutions for virtualization, resource management, clustering, high availability, and workload optimization.

• Create and sustain platform architectures, engineering designs, implementation plans, configuration standards, build guides, and technical documentation.

• Engage in Agile practices including sprint planning, technical reviews, engineering design reviews, and cross-functional collaboration.

• Mentor engineers while providing technical guidance on platform engineering, virtualization, automation, and infrastructure modernization.

• Travel to NATO sites to install, configure, integrate, validate, test, and troubleshoot enterprise platform infrastructure.

• Assist in deployment, commissioning, technical validation, customer acceptance, infrastructure modernization, technical planning, platform strategy, and proposal development activities.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field with 8–12 years of pertinent experience, or a Master's degree with 6–10 years of relevant experience.

• An active NATO Secret clearance or higher.

• Proficiency in designing and implementing enterprise virtualization and platform infrastructure solutions.

• Extensive experience with VMware Cloud Foundation, VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, and associated virtualization technologies.

• Experience in deploying and integrating VMware NSX, SDDC, and private cloud environments.

• Significant experience in implementing enterprise platform automation using IaC, Ansible, Terraform, PowerShell, or similar technologies.

• A solid understanding of principles related to enterprise compute, storage, virtualization, high availability, disaster recovery, and infrastructure resiliency.

• Experience in integrating enterprise platform solutions with networking, cybersecurity, backup, and cloud infrastructure technologies.

• A robust comprehension of enterprise infrastructure, virtualization, networking, storage, and cybersecurity practices.

• Experience operating within Agile, SAFe, or DevSecOps delivery frameworks.

• Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder engagement, and technical collaboration abilities.

• Experience supporting defense, government, or highly regulated development environments.

• VMware Certified Professional, VMware Advanced Professional, or equivalent VMware certification is preferred.

• Experience with VCF lifecycle management and automation is preferred.

• Experience supporting NATO environments and compliance frameworks is preferred.

• Familiarity with enterprise compute platforms like HPE Synergy, HPE ProLiant, Dell PowerEdge, or equivalent is preferred.

• Knowledge of SAN solutions such as Dell PowerStore, HPE Alletra, or equivalent is preferred.

• Experience with infrastructure monitoring, capacity management, and performance optimization tools is preferred.

• Background in supporting large-scale infrastructure modernization and enterprise platform engineering initiatives is preferred.
