Senior Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of, maintain, and enhance CI/CD pipelines and internal delivery tools for Public Warning products.

• Design and implement reusable Jenkins and GitLab pipeline templates along with automation frameworks.

• Propel automation efforts across deployment processes, upgrades, configuration management, operational workflows, and technical documentation.

• Operate within Kubernetes-based environments spanning both cloud and on-premise infrastructures.

• Provide support and optimize infrastructure hosted in AWS and OVH settings.

• Leverage technologies such as Ansible, Helm, Terraform, Python, and scripting to minimize manual operational tasks and boost platform reliability.

• Improve certificate management, observability, monitoring, logging, and operational readiness across various environments.

• Utilize technologies including Grafana, Zabbix, OpenTelemetry, HAProxy, MariaDB, Kafka, and OpenShift.

• Develop and maintain scripts, installation guides, operational runbooks, and technical documentation for Engineering and Professional Services teams.

• Collaborate with customer-facing teams and occasionally engage in customer discussions to gain insights into deployment challenges and operational issues.

• Assist with escalations and troubleshooting activities as needed. Currently, there is no formal on-call rotation associated with this position.


⛳️ Requirements

• We are seeking a senior-level engineer with substantial experience in platform engineering, DevOps, site reliability engineering (SRE), infrastructure automation, or complex enterprise software delivery environments.

• Candidates should possess hands-on experience in several of the following areas:

• Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD pipelines, and GitLab runners.

• Kubernetes, Helm, and containerized deployments.

• Ansible, Python, scripting, and infrastructure automation.

• AWS, Linux systems, virtual machines, and infrastructure operations.

• Secure system configuration and certificate management.

• Monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana, Zabbix, and OpenTelemetry.

• Load balancing technologies, particularly HAProxy.

• Technologies like MariaDB, Kafka, OpenShift, and Terraform.

• You are not required to have experience in every technology mentioned above. We prioritize strong engineering fundamentals, practical problem-solving abilities, ownership, adaptability, and a commitment to continual learning and improvement.
