This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kenya.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and robust platforms.
• Approach cloud infrastructure as a product, considering internal developers as customers.
• Create self-service tools, automated guardrails, and enhance platform experience for engineers.
• Automate infrastructure processes, optimize CI/CD pipelines, and ensure platform reliability and performance.
• Promote best practices in Platform Engineering, enhance developer productivity, and encourage operational excellence through infrastructure-as-code and modern tools.
• Kubernetes & Containerization: Proficient in Kubernetes, Istio, ArgoCD, Helm & CI/CD for containerized workloads.
• Monitoring and Logging: Utilize Prometheus, Loki, Grafana & ELK for resource monitoring.
• Source Control & CI/CD: Use GitHub & GitHub Actions for version control and CI/CD processes.
• Operating Systems: Manage Unix environments using Ansible and AWS tooling.
• Backend Development: Practical experience in designing, developing, and deploying backend services in Java; scripting for immediate issues.
• Cloud Infrastructure: Knowledge of AWS/Cloud services and industry best practices.
• Infrastructure as Code: Employ AWS CDK & Terraform for infrastructure management.
• Architecture and Design Patterns: Familiar with DDD, EDA, and distributed computing architecture.
• Computer Networking: Understanding of core networking concepts including VPCs, Subnets, NAT Gateways, etc.
• Database Management: Experience with relational databases (MySQL, SQLite, PostgreSQL) and event streaming using Kafka.
• Internal Developer Platform: Develop and sustain tools that minimize cognitive load for product teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
• Over 4 years of relevant experience as a Developer in building/running Java or C# applications.
• At least 2 years of experience deploying, managing, and rightsizing Kubernetes clusters, resources, and underlying infrastructure.
• Minimum of 2 years designing and operating public cloud environments.
• Familiarity with GitOps/CI-CD workflows for infrastructure as code and Helm workload deployments.
• A product-oriented mindset for internal tooling: capacity to identify developer pain points and create platform solutions that effectively address them at scale.
• Preferred: experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and knowledge of the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
