Senior Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and Terraform templates that support the engineering platform.

• Create and sustain observability on Datadog, which includes instrumentation, alerting, and service-level objectives.

• Facilitate environment automation, on-call rotations, and golden-path delivery processes.

• Enhance environment stability, deployment safety, and consistency in configuration across agency services.

• Establish monitoring and alerting systems that promote effective incident response and production operations.

• Minimize repetitive operational tasks through automation to boost team efficiency.

• Implement platform enhancements that yield measurable improvements in reliability and developer productivity.

• Engage in two-week sprints, backlog refinement, and architecture reviews alongside the Platform Enablement team.

• Carry out other pertinent tasks as qualified and trained.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Practical experience in building and maintaining delivery pipelines, infrastructure automation, and shared platform services for systems with high availability.

• Proven capability to enhance environment stability, deployment safety, and configuration consistency.

• Experience in implementing monitoring and alerting mechanisms that facilitate effective incident response and production operations.

• Strong automation expertise aimed at reducing repetitive operational tasks and enhancing team velocity.

• Capacity to independently deliver platform improvements with quantifiable effects on reliability and developer productivity.

• Solid comprehension of Datadog, GitLab CI/CD, and FedRAMP-authorized toolchains.

• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Tier 4 High Risk Public Trust clearance.

• Familiarity with Terraform-based golden-path/IaC module design in a federal or regulated setting.

• Exposure to AI-assisted coding tools for generating boilerplate or IaC.

• Previous experience in federal or large-scale enterprise platform engineering.
