Senior Platform Engineer – AI Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Develop AI functionalities from start to finish, encompassing retrieval, context engineering, structured output, tool/function invocation, and evaluation frameworks.

• Create and manage multi-agent and multi-step orchestration systems involving task decomposition, tool routing, state and memory management, retries, fallbacks, human-in-the-loop checkpoints, and guardrails.

• Handle non-deterministic AI systems with tracing, continuous integration evaluations, prompt and model versioning, token and latency management, model routing, and cost control measures.

• Oversee ECS container platform operations, including service definitions, task sizing, autoscaling, blue/green deployments, and orchestration for long-running services and asynchronous workers.

• Design AWS event-driven and serverless architectures utilizing Lambda, SQS/SNS, and EventBridge, with IAM and network configurations managed as infrastructure as code.

• Develop and enhance production PHP services, integrating AI functionalities into existing product interfaces.

• Enhance database performance at scale through schema design, indexing, replication, read scaling, zero-downtime migrations, and query optimization across MySQL and Aurora.

• Elevate team standards through code reviews, design documentation, mentorship, incident response, and participation in on-call duties.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in building and maintaining production software, with responsibility for large-scale systems.

• Practical experience in deploying LLM-backed features, including agent orchestration, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), evaluation, and operational reliability.

• Proficient in PHP 8.x within a mature, high-traffic codebase.

• Extensive experience in AWS architecture.

• Practical experience with ECS operations.

• Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform or CDK.

• Experience in continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD).

• Expert-level relational database expertise with MySQL and/or Aurora.

• Ability to interpret and respond to database execution plans.

• Strong foundation in distributed systems, API design, observability, and application security.

• Excellent written communication skills and sound decision-making regarding technical trade-offs.

• Preferred qualifications include: Go, MCP or similar agent-tooling standards, vector search and embedding pipelines, Kubernetes, document and image extraction pipelines, or experience in the real estate, proptech, or field services sectors.
