
Senior Payroll Accounting Specialist – Part-Time

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• Oversee the complete monthly payroll process for all entities (DE, UK, US, FR) and EoRs, collaborating effectively with external service providers.
• Prepare, validate, and review payroll information and outputs, ensuring precision and addressing any discrepancies.
• Reconcile payroll data with HiBob (HRIS) and manage statutory deductions and filings (taxes, pensions, benefits).
• Act as the primary point of contact between the Finance and People teams regarding all payroll-related issues.
• Review and verify monthly payroll journal entries, ensuring correct cost center allocations and appropriate treatment of employer-related payroll expenses.
• Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations for payroll-related accounts (accruals, liabilities, clearing) within the month-end closing timeline.
• Maintain precise records, audit trails, and supporting documentation to ensure audit readiness across all entities.
• Serve as the initial contact for payroll inquiries from employees, providing clear, empathetic, and timely responses.
• Ensure adherence to payroll regulations across various jurisdictions and promote ongoing process enhancements.
• Multi-country payroll experience (5+ years): Extensive knowledge of managing payroll in Germany and at least one other jurisdiction (UK or US), with the capacity to handle each independently and simultaneously.
• Statutory Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of statutory payroll obligations (taxes, pensions, filings) and experience working with external payroll service providers.
• Systems Experience: Proficient in using HiBob or similar HRIS, and familiar with EoR platforms such as Papaya Global and/or Justworks. Knowledge of payroll-specific tools like DATEV (or equivalent) is a significant advantage.
• Financial Expertise: Strong background in payroll accounting or financial bookkeeping, with the capability to manage reconciliations and payroll-to-GL processes efficiently.
• Key Attributes: High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and discretion in handling sensitive information. Ability to operate independently across multiple payroll cycles and identify issues proactively.
• Communication & Collaboration: Confident in collaborating cross-functionally and ensuring accountability from external service providers when necessary.
• Languages: Excellent proficiency in written and spoken German and English is essential; knowledge of French is a plus.
