Senior Payment Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Analyze decline codes, retry logic, and timing across acquirers to diagnose and recover declined transactions.

• Develop and enhance intelligent routing rules based on card type, user behavior, spending value, and platform activity.

• Track per-transaction cost of goods sold (COGS) across all processors, gateways, FX fees, scheme fees, refunds, and chargebacks, then work to minimize it.

• Collaborate with the Finance team for daily reconciliation, identifying and resolving discrepancies across various acquirer data formats.

• Investigate MIT/renewal authorization failures and systematically enhance renewal success rates.

• Detect friction points and drop-offs in the payment journey and communicate findings to Product and Engineering teams.

• Create and sustain a live payments KPI dashboard that includes authorization rates, decline breakdowns, cost per transaction, chargeback ratios, and retry uplift metrics.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in high-risk payments, particularly with multi-acquirer setups.

• Proficient in SQL and capable of working independently.

• Comfortable managing disorganized and inconsistent data from a variety of acquirers.

• Capable of forming hypotheses, conducting experiments, analyzing results, and making necessary adjustments.

• Strong communication skills to translate complex data findings into clear recommendations.

• Self-motivated with the ability to create structure and rhythm from scratch.
