Senior Open-Source Python Engineer, ML Developer Tools

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain essential features across the team's libraries.

• Guarantee scalability, reliability, and user-friendliness for ML developers.

• Architect intricate Python projects and frameworks that serve as foundational tools for the ML community.

• Expand early-stage libraries by establishing APIs, creating demos and documentation, and promoting developer engagement.

• Engage in real-time streaming and networking functionalities for Gradio 7 and future versions.

• Collaborate with open-source contributors through code reviews, discussions, and providing support.

• Incorporate modern frontend technologies into Python-based web applications.

• Adjust to changing engineering challenges and help steer the development of developer tools.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in Computer Science or a related discipline.

• Over 5 years of professional experience in Python development.

• Proven experience in architecting complex Python projects or frameworks.

• A history of advancing early-stage libraries or products from initial users to widespread adoption.

• Professional experience with JavaScript or TypeScript.

• Professional experience with a modern frontend framework such as React or Svelte.

• Experience in core-contributing to or maintaining open-source software projects.

• Nice to have: Experience with real-time audio/video streaming or networking technologies (e.g., WebRTC, WebSockets).

• Nice to have: Contributions to libraries like pipecat, LiveKit, FastAPI, or Starlette.
