Senior Node.js Developer – Coupa Integration, SaaS Product

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Become a member of the product engineering team that is developing a SaaS solution with extensive integration into Coupa and other enterprise applications.

• Create production-ready backend systems for SaaS and enterprise integration platforms.

• Design and implement REST/JSON API integrations, covering aspects such as authentication, request/response management, and error handling.

• Engage with procurement objects and processes, including suppliers, requisitions, purchase orders, invoices, and receipts.

• Execute data mapping, transformation, validation, and synchronization between source and target systems.

• Define integration API calls, mappings, and error handling based on requirements.

• Diagnose integration failures by analyzing logs, API payloads, and database records.

• Create and uphold automated unit and integration tests for backend services.

• Utilize Git-based workflows, including pull requests, branching, and code reviews.

• Resolve CI/CD pipeline failures.

• Provide support for AWS containerized deployments, CloudWatch, and S3.

• Assist with customer-facing implementations and integrations, identifying configuration issues separately from product defects.

• Generate defect documentation, technical specifications, and runbooks.

• Employ AI-assisted development tools while ensuring code quality and adherence to review standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of professional software development experience focused on building production-grade backend systems.

• Strong practical knowledge of Node.js, TypeScript/JavaScript, and SQL with PostgreSQL.

• A solid foundation in software architecture, API design, error handling/logging, and troubleshooting in production environments.

• Experience in writing automated unit and integration tests for backend services.

• Practical experience in building or supporting integrations with Coupa or a similar enterprise procurement/ERP platform using REST/JSON APIs, including authentication, request/response handling, and error handling.

• A working understanding of core procurement objects and workflows: suppliers, requisitions, purchase orders, invoices, and receipts.

• Demonstrated experience in data mapping, transformation, validation, and synchronization between source and target systems.

• Capability to independently scope an integration's API calls, mappings, and error handling based on requirements.

• Proven experience troubleshooting integration failures using logs, API payloads, and database records.

• Familiarity with Git-based workflows such as pull requests, branching, and code reviews.

• Ability to read and troubleshoot CI/CD pipeline issues.

• Hands-on experience with AWS, including containerized deployments (ECS or equivalent, with knowledge of Docker), CloudWatch, and S3.

• Experience in supporting customer-facing implementations or integrations and distinguishing between customer-specific configuration issues and product-level defects.

• Excellent written and verbal English skills, capable of producing clear defect documentation, technical specifications, and runbooks.

• Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools like Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor, maintaining code quality and review standards.

• Preferred: experience in developing a commercial SaaS product.

• Preferred: extensive experience with Coupa integration architecture and Coupa APIs.

• Preferred: experience integrating Coupa with NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Oracle, or other ERP systems.

• Preferred: experience with Coupa customers, implementation partners, or Coupa's integration ecosystem, including direct interactions with Coupa Support.

• Preferred: experience designing multi-tenant SaaS integrations.

• Preferred: knowledge of Node.js async/queue-based patterns, webhooks, scheduled integrations, retry mechanisms, and idempotency.

• Preferred: familiarity with observability/APM tools such as Datadog, New Relic, or Sentry.

• Preferred: understanding of enterprise security practices including OAuth2, credentials/secrets management, audit logging, and compliance requirements.

• Preferred: experience with formal change management, release management, audit, security, or compliance processes.

• Preferred: experience with embedded, docked, plug-in, or extensible application architectures.

• Preferred: basic understanding of procurement/accounting principles, including PO matching, GL coding, and tax/currency management.
