Senior Network Engineer II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance network architectures in both on-premise and cloud settings.

• Lead network infrastructure initiatives, encompassing data center, WAN, LAN, and cloud connectivity projects.

• Execute and manage advanced routing and switching protocols such as BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and SD-WAN.

• Supervise network security implementations, including firewalls, VPNs, network segmentation, and principles of zero-trust.

• Create and oversee automation workflows for network provisioning, configuration, and monitoring utilizing infrastructure-as-code and modern scripting techniques.

• Enhance network performance, conduct capacity planning, and ensure reliability.

• Conduct advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis for critical network incidents within high-availability environments.

• Collaborate with Security, Systems, Cloud, and DevOps teams to ensure smooth integration and operational excellence.

• Assess new technologies and propose enhancements to the network architecture.

• Create and maintain network documentation, diagrams, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and support to junior engineers.

• Perform additional tasks that support the overall objectives of the position.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or a combination of education and experience that equips the required qualifications.

• Over 8 years of practical network engineering experience within large-scale enterprise or service provider settings.

• At least 3 years of operational experience in a Cloud, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) role.

• Robust hands-on experience operating within major public enterprise cloud platforms.

• Extensive experience in network security, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and VPNs.

• Proficient in network automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using contemporary scripting languages and configuration management tools.

• Experience with Cisco ACI, DNA Center, or equivalent SDN technologies.

• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is preferred.

• Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) certification is mandatory.

• Routing & Switching / Enterprise Infrastructure certification is required.

• Security certification is preferred.

• Additional certifications such as CCDE, CISSP, and AWS Advanced Networking are desirable.

• Expert-level understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and SD-WAN.

• Knowledge of high-availability and redundancy design, network security best practices, and IaC principles.

• Familiarity with SolarWinds and ThousandEyes.

• Knowledge of VXLAN and EVPN is preferred.

• Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.

• Clear and effective communication and documentation abilities.

• Capability to lead complex technical projects, influence architectural decisions, and perform efficiently in high-pressure, mission-critical situations.
