Senior Network Engineer, Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• You will plan and operate a highly available network for a nationwide retail infrastructure.

• You will implement a complete WLAN environment with NAC and 802.1X for an energy supplier.

• You will support the migration to an SD-WAN-based network using Cisco Viptela or Fortinet.

• You will analyze disruptions in the network stack of an internationally operating manufacturing company.

• You will build, transform, and operate complex WAN, LAN, and WLAN infrastructures.

• You will manage migrations and rollouts from traditional networks to SDN approaches.

• You will troubleshoot and analyze logs, identifying bottlenecks before they escalate into issues.

• You will handle incident, change, and problem management according to ITIL standards.

• You will design and document sophisticated network architectures, SOPs, and operational models.

• You will provide consulting on new technologies, including vendor comparisons and roadmapping.

• (Partial) project responsibility – if you desire.

⛳️ Requirements

• WAN: Routing, MPLS, IPsec, DMVPN, SD-WAN, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP.

• LAN: Switching, VLAN & Trunking (802.1Q), Port-Security (802.1X), STP, CDP/LLDP.

• WLAN: WPA 2 & 3, WLAN Controller, 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax, WiFi 6.

• VPN: IPSec, IKEv1/v2, TLS-based VPNs, Remote Access concepts.

• Troubleshooting & Analysis: e.g., using Wireshark, TcpDump, Packet Tracer.

• Protocols & Tools: REST APIs, SNMP, Syslog, NetFlow, YAML, JSON, Postman.

• German (at least C1) and English (at least B1/B2).
