Senior Network Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Take responsibility for the entire lifecycle of intricate network and firewall incidents, from initial detection to resolution and subsequent review, ensuring accountability for technical outcomes, stability, and comprehensive documentation.

• Spearhead the investigation and resolution of critical network incidents, facilitating collaboration among internal teams, vendors, and customer stakeholders.

• Make informed technical decisions and assume full ownership of network issues, achieving resolution without the need for further escalation.

• Oversee the technical execution of network projects, encompassing scoping, estimation, design, and implementation.

• Perform root cause analyses and develop long-term strategies for remediation to prevent future occurrences.

• Review and authorize network changes, designs, and remediation strategies.

• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot networking and firewall equipment from Cisco, Palo Alto, and Fortinet.

• Execute targeted cleanups and enhancements of existing network environments to ensure stability and scalability while minimizing customer downtime.

• Work in partnership with the security team to guarantee effective network hardening and proper mitigation or remediation of all risks.

• Offer technical direction and mentorship to junior engineers.

• Contribute to the creation of architecture documentation, diagrams, and operational runbooks.

• Stay informed about advancements in the networking and security technology landscape, recommending new solutions as necessary.

• Accurately log time and project activities within the company's time tracking system.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in an MSP, VAR, ISP, NOC, or enterprise IT environment, with an emphasis on troubleshooting and maintaining existing network infrastructure.

• MUST BE fluent in English.

• Advanced, hands-on experience in managing enterprise firewalls across various platforms — including Cisco (ASA/FTD/FMC), Palo Alto Networks (PAN-OS, Panorama), and Fortinet (FortiGate, FortiManager) — with expertise in policy design, rule optimization, VPN configuration, and threat prevention.

• In-depth knowledge of networking protocols and technologies such as TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, IPSec, SNMP, STP, VTP, and VLANs.

• Strong understanding of network infrastructure within virtualized environments using VMware or similar platforms, covering virtual networking, VLAN configurations, virtual switches, and network segmentation.

• Experience in troubleshooting performance and connectivity issues across various OSI layers.

• Proficient in application-level network troubleshooting, including packet inspection and analysis.

• Demonstrated success in optimizing, securing, and consolidating complex legacy network environments to align with current and future business needs.

• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-centric approach to resolving network issues.
