Senior .Net Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, maintain, and enhance .NET microservices and backend APIs that support essential payment workflows.

• Analyze and optimize applications for improved performance, scalability, and reliability.

• Investigate and resolve production issues, identify root causes, and implement high-quality fixes.

• Refactor legacy components into contemporary, cloud-ready services.

• Elevate engineering standards, code quality, and best practices through thorough code reviews.

• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and QA teams to deliver features to millions of users.

• Mentor junior engineers on architecture, coding patterns, and engineering principles.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in building highly scalable, customer-facing systems using modern .NET technologies, including C# and .NET 6/7/8.

• Extensive experience in developing RESTful APIs and microservices utilizing ASP.NET Core.

• Solid background in building and maintaining distributed services with a focus on performance, resilience, and observability.

• Advanced knowledge of SQL Server, including complex query optimization, stored procedures, and database schema design.

• Practical experience with Redis.

• Proficiency in integrating both internal and external REST APIs.

• Familiarity with event-driven or message-based architectures such as Kafka, SNS/SQS, or RabbitMQ.

• Understanding of cloud-native development, preferably with AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, SNS/SQS, and ECS/EKS.

• Strong experience utilizing Git-based workflows.

• Knowledge of secure coding practices, authentication/authorization patterns, and contemporary internet security measures.

• Experience working in an Agile, cross-functional team environment.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

• Experience with payment systems, PCI considerations, or high-volume transactional flows is a plus.

• Familiarity with observability tools like Grafana, Kibana, Datadog, AppDynamics, or OpenTelemetry is a plus.

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD, Azure DevOps, or GitLab CI is a plus.

• Experience in optimizing performance in high-traffic environments is a plus.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, product managers, QA, and stakeholders.

• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a distributed engineering team.
